Description:

Serve as a critical member of the Global Corporate Communications team, playing a crucial role in support of Hyatt’s focus on strengthening franchise communications and stakeholder relations. This colleague must be an expert in targeted B2B communications, preferably with experience communicating to franchisees and owners. The role will require a strong foundation in writing, project management, presentation development, visual thinking, networking, data reporting and fluency with relationship management tools.

Work alongside Director of Global Corporate & Issues Communications and leaders of Global Franchise and Owner Relations Organization to enhance and expand communication efforts to current and prospective franchisees and owners.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Developing and executing communications strategies to more effectively reach target audience of franchise owners, third party management companies and franchise field colleagues with a goal of increased stakeholder awareness, engagement and understanding of value provided by Hyatt.
  • Partnering with global franchise and owner relations leadership and global communications to drive change management and strategy for elevated owner relations efforts through enhanced communications strategies resulting in a deliberate cadence and channel strategy and evolution of owner advisory council (OAC) and engagement.
  • Drafting content across diverse communications channels including stakeholder emails, newsletters, presentations, advisory committees, executive talking points, internal channels and other strategic communication vehicles.
  • Acting as corporate resource for property-level leadership including GMs, Directors of Finance and Directors of Sales & Marketing to support execution and reporting of revenue-driving opportunities 
  • demonstrating ongoing understanding of hotel-level technology (PMS, HotSOS, Zingle, etc.) and learning new tools and technologies.
  • Liasing with Operations Communications and GCC colleagues on franchisee inquiries and communication vehicles.
  • Identifying and correctly positioning key messages for niche audiences with appropriate nuance and detail. 
  • Experimenting with new channels, forms and methodologies of communication.
  • Developing timelines and managing projects.
  • Conducting property visits and attending franchisee meetings as appropriate.
  • Serving as franchise and owner subject matter expert for Global Communications team with an intimate understanding of internal tools, dashboards and brand standards.

Ideal candidate will be a highly motivated team player with the ability to collaborate and facilitate dialogue across regions, levels and a wide variety of functions. Ability to quickly experiment and apply learnings, and communicate with empathy is necessary. 


Position Responsibilities / Essential Functions

 

  • Develop and execute franchise and owner communications strategy with understanding of global priorities and regional nuances.

 

  • Draft and develop on-strategy franchise and owner communications across multiple channels including direct communication to franchisees, operators and owners (e.g. newsletters), internal communications (e.g. Hyatt check-in and hyattconnect), executive visibility and earned media story angles.

 

  • Innovate and experiment with communications channel strategy to constantly enhance and evolve communications efforts.

 

  • Provide strategic communication counsel to business partners and serve as primary liason between franchise and owner relationship organization, global communications and regional/property leadership.

 

  • Collaborate with stakeholders across variety of internal functions including operations, commercial services, development, brand/marketing, human resources, field and legal, and partner with/delegate to external communications agency team members.

 

  • Lead and manage projects including development of timelines, partnership with key internal functions, identification of resource needs and delivery of content on deadline.

 

  • Serve as franchise and owner subject matter expert for Global Communications team and align with Global Communications team members to identify opportunities for synergy and deliver consistency across communication channels.

 

  • Develop key messages that are carefully tailored to target audiences and consistent with Hyatt’s corporate messaging and purpose story arc

Qualifications

Experience

  • 8+ years of experience, in house communications or PR/communications agency
  • Targeted B2B communications experience required (e.g. franchisees, owners, dealers, regulators, etc.)
  • Strong intellect, flexible and adaptable, stimulated by challenges, and open-minded with a strong desire to learn
  • Conceptual, strategic and creative thinker, capable of developing plans that deliver results
  • Advanced writing and editing skills with proven ability to produce a wide range of materials and content (scripts, presentations, newsletters, etc.)
  • High degree of personal and professional savvy and experience to inspire confidence among all audiences and at all levels of the organization
  • Proven ability to lead cross-functional projects with detailed timelines and multiple stakeholders
  • Strong empathetic orientation and high level of personal commitment/caring
  • Travel/tourism/hospitality experience a strong plus

Education

  • Bachelor of Arts or Sciences in Communications, Journalism, Marketing, or related degree

Computer Skills Needed to Perform this Job

  • Proficient, solid working knowledge in Microsoft Office Suite
  • Visual storytelling skills are a plus

  • Excellent networking and relationship-building skills and the ability to act with confidence while dealing with various levels and functions 
  • Ability to travel globally as required (approximately 10-25%)
